It was born of necessity and an ireverant joke in Paris 1986*, the Whelk Collection is a sulky, petulant, child of "Now that's What I Call Music" with occasional sugar rushes. Its audience is the C-90 post K-tel compilation, pre iTunes playlist generation.

These compilations punctuated my growing/grown up years and contain songs that still have the power to transport me back through time.
